Today is Week 8 of the Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge. This is the half-way point of the Block Challenge already! I am having so much fun making up each of these blocks and seeing all the wonderful blocks under the hashtag #RBDBlockChallenge.

What is the RBD Block Challenge?
It is a weekly free mystery block pattern hosted by Riley Blake Designs. There are (16) new and unique 10" quilt blocks designed by 16 Riley Blake Design designers (including myself)! It is fun and free and the final quilt is a surprise!!!
Every Tuesday, a NEW block pattern is released, except the last Tuesday of the month when we take a moment to catch up, get inspired and really enjoy all the awesome work happening on the Block Challenge around the globe!

Block 8: Garden Charm by Fran Gulick
Block 8 of the #RBDBlockChallenge is designed by Fran Gulick of Cotton and Joy and is called the Garden Charm Block.

I made mine using a combination of a new RBD fabric line called Misty Morning by Minki Kim and some coordinating RBD Basics (see my fabric list at the bottom of this post).
I am continuing with the stitching details and did some outline hand stitching in my background fabrics. It gives the block so much texture and personality. I hand sew these embellishment stitches BEFORE I assembled the blocks into the final quilt and before I quilt it. I just love the hand look it gives the blocks!
