When we had our 4th baby (almost a decade ago now), I hand painted an Autumn Tree in the corner of the nursery. I put the rocking chair under that painted tree and designed and made a number of Owl stuffies and quilts for our 4th babies room! I love the idea of the Wise Old Owl watching over us. I painted the following poem on his wall back then, and have included it in the Owl Doll Pattern booklets as well!
The Wise Owl

The Owl Doll pattern has been a long, anticipated doll release pattern and I was waiting for the perfect fabric to make these cuties in!
Sandy Gervais is known for her beautiful details and texture. In fact, she even has a Riley Blake Designs Basic called "Texture" that I used for the Owl's skin! Her new fall collection called Adel in Autumn is named after her grandmother Adel and inspired by flowers and fall motifs she could find at her grandmas house! I love the plaids, and pumpkins, acorns and leaves. What more could want in a harvest collection?!
Therefore, I am truly excited today to announce the release of the Owl Doll Pattern in BOTH sewing and machine embroidery versions! From the feathered eye details, to the knobby knee stitches, tufts of ear feathers (which my 10 year old daughter tells me is a great-horned owl), to the wing and tummy feather details - they are just so much fun to create. I used two complementary fabrics from the Adel in Autumn collection for the front and back of the wings. I think these owls are just so spectacular and I am really looking forward to seeing how you create this majestic and wise bird doll.
If you have been here before, you know when I start touching and working with the fabrics (in this case to make the Owl Dolls), the fabrics often inspire more projects in my head and I just HAD to bring these little stuffed Acorn Ornaments into reality! Aren't they the sweetest?
They really are so easy to make. You can wip up a batch and put them in a bowl at your front door for the Autumn season. Or maybe you would like to arrange them as a table center or place settings on Thanksgiving? Acorns also make wonderful Christmas tree ornaments and present bows too!
